2023 in Review

I have just spent a nice amount of time reviewing my 2023 calendar from January through the end of this month.

What an incredible year it has been for me.

Plenty of growth took place!

And not by accident I am proud to say.

I put a good deal of work into both my personal and business growth this year.

The rewards came as I got to realize the fruits of my actions.

These are some of the key things I noted from this year:

I look for important events to celebrate from the full year to now.

Family gatherings and interactions, get-togethers with friends, along with concentrated efforts, as well as significant projects.

I make notes of all of these in review.

It is too easy to overlook progress and take things for granted.

And it is all so necessary to realize how much work went in what direction and with what outcome.

I have been looking at 2024 goal setting for weeks now

Here are few frameworks that I find helpful for simple and effective goal setting for what truly matters:

  1. SMART Goals:

Specific: Clearly define what you want to accomplish.

Measurable: Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress.

Achievable: Ensure that the goal is attainable and not impossible.

Relevant: The goal should align with your values and long-term objectives.

Time-bound: Set a specific timeline for achieving the goal.

  1. OKRs (Objectives and Key Results):

Objective: Define what is to be achieved, should be significant and action oriented.

Key Results: Set measurable steps to achieve the objective. These should be quantifiable.

  1. The Golden Circle:

Why: Start by understanding why the goal is important. This is the core motivation.

How: Determine the methods or processes to achieve the goal.

What: Specify what the exact goal or outcome will be.

  1. The 5x5 Rule:

Focus on no more than 5 goals at a time.

Spend at least 5 minutes each day planning and working towards each goal.

  1. The GROW Model:

Goal: Define the end point or what you want to achieve.

Reality: Assess the current situation and identify obstacles.

Options: Explore different strategies or paths to reach the goal.

Will: Commit to specific actions that will lead to achieving the goal.

  1. Vision Boards:

Create a visual representation of your goals using images and words to inspire and motivate.

  1. Action Plans:

Break down the goal into smaller, manageable tasks.

Assign deadlines and priorities to each task.

  1. Journaling for Reflection:

Regularly write about your goals, progress, and the lessons learned. This helps maintain focus and clarity.

The key to using any framework is to find what aligns and works for you personally to set and pursue your goals.
