ChatGPT4 | DALL-E | Growth - Change | Self-management; Leadership
This week, I experienced a certain clarity around change
This had me in full reflection of how we live in a time of rapid monumental change like no time I can recall.
Flexibility is the key to navigating the unprecedented changes we are exposed to now.
The following quote summed up what I was present to this week.
“No man steps in the same river twice.” - Heraclitus, Greek philosopher
ChatGPT has been actively on my list this year
This week, I stepped up to using ChatGPT4. I was using v. 3.5 prior.
With this, I also created my first text-to-image in DALL-E.
There was a specific learning curve to it, but it was all such a personal expansion to experience improving this up to the final version as well.
With the exponential increases and mind-bending advances that are occurring in technology by the day - if you still need a nudge to engage in using these tools, I invite you to step into this technology circle now.
I have produced text-to-image elsewhere on other platforms, Midjourney, for example.
What is straightforward about DALL-E is that it is one stop along with ChatPGT4 on the same platform.
Simple is good.
I use myself as encouragement for you.
Here, I will share my first DALL-E rendering of a text-to-image output below.
Full transparency: I was trying to describe a likeness of myself.
The background resembles outdoor areas I frequent for nature breaks nearby on the peninsula south of San Francisco, California.
People I talk to lately have a lot on their minds
Not that anyone needs a reminder, yet there is political unrest at great scale out in the world.
Climate urgency takes no holiday.
Even the amazingly convenient introductions of the very technologies that can make life seem more simple, also appear as threats to some for their career and job outlook.
Uncertainty and disruption take their toll.
People have a greater sense of urgency.
They feel they can not count on as much in life as before.
The good news is social values mean more now.
When it comes to seeking work, more people want to work at places that are aligned with their own values while raising awareness of social justice, and creating a healthy planet.
Even more people are now more inclined to start working for themselves.
I have clients who are taking this on with zeal.
Other leaders are stepping up to greater levels of impact.
The path is not all certain, but many are having a renaissance by adopting new technology, harnessing their experience plus passions, and doing work they love.
Self-management is essential in dealing with change and leading thyself
Self-management is how you deal with circumstances after you have the self-awareness to understand how you are reacting, thinking, and feeling.
Though we don’t control how we initially think and feel about a situation, we can control our actions and what we say.
Here are a few powerful and simple strategies you can use right away to improve your self-management:
Know and understand your triggers. Knowing what triggers you helps you navigate challenging situations. Knowing your work style and preferences can also help you adapt to conditions precisely.
Allow yourself a time-out. If you catch yourself experiencing a tightening chest or a rise in blood pressure, find a way to give yourself a break. Gently rub your thumb and middle finger together to notice your fingerprints for re-centering. Emotions are temporary, and they change. They are manageable with a few thought-out simple techniques. Sleep on a situation where possible.
Take a few calculated, deep, controlled breaths. This gives a fresh supply of oxygen to the brain. Without oxygen, the brain does not function well, and you don’t think as clearly. During stress, you may breathe more shallowly; this reduces what the brain needs to manage your emotions - oxygen. Taking slow, deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth helps significantly to manage challenging emotions.
