I had a great meeting with Chris Yeh this week, he wrote the book Blitzscaling with Reid Hoffman.

We were in a group of global conscious minded leaders and creators from the startup and venture funding world at a venue in San Francisco.

We were contemplating the direction and conscious application of AI along with those developers and founders of the very companies bringing these products to us.

There was rich alignment that we need to act now to be on top of what AI offers us rather that how AI influences us.

There is plenty to consider with the timing of this conscious effort to manage AI.

I just put out a post about “Six Thinking Hats” on LinkedIn

This useful and powerful concept offers incredible impact on alternate thinking processes for making better decisions.

This was brought about from Edward de Bono.

I have been so intrigued by this work that I wanted to understand more about the author.

I just started another of his earlier books: Lateral Thinking.

He was born in Malta in 1933, he went on to Oxford as a Rhodes scholar, he held degrees in philosophy and medicine.

He published many works; he was known to have a wide-ranging perceptive mind.

When you read his work, you quickly understand he had a brilliant mind.

Additionally, I am reading The 5 Levels of Leadership, the book by John C. Maxwell.

Here is the overview of the 5 Levels of Leadership:

5: Pinnacle

RESPECT

People follow because of who you are and what you represent.

4: People Development

REPRODUCITON

People follow because of what you have done for them.

3: Production

RESULTS

People follow because of what you have done for the organization.

2: Permission

RELATIONSHIPS

People follow you because they want to.

1: Position

RIGHTS

People follow you because they have to.

More insight to each of The 5 levels:

  • Level 1- Position - is the only level that does not require ability and effort to achieve. Anyone can be appointed to a position.

  • Level 2 – Permission - is based entirely upon Relationships.You can like people without leading them, but you cannot lead people well without liking them.

  • Level 3 – Production – Leaders can become change agents at this level, they can get things done! They can take their people to another level of effectiveness.

  • Level 4 – People Development – Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. These leaders change the lives of the people they lead.

  • Level 5 – Pinnacle – This is the highest and most difficult level of leadership. These leaders develop people to become Level 4 leaders – this is difficult work.

Level 5 leaders develop Level 5 organizations.
