Sunday evening, you look back at the week.
Thirty-one approvals got your full attention.
The question you have carried since spring, whether your head of operations is still the right person for what comes next, got eleven minutes on Thursday between meetings.
Nobody would call that a low bar. Every approval was careful, and every reply was thoughtful.
The decision that will shape the next three years got whatever was left.
What I am seeing with coaching clients at this level, is effort is almost never what runs out.
Judgment goes first. It gets spent on whatever lands on your desk early, and the hardest decisions tend to land late.
That means some of your most careful attention is going to work that never needed it.
We are taught that a high bar means giving everything your best.
Give everything your best, and your biggest decision gets your average.
The leaders who hold the highest bar say plainly where good enough is good enough.
Their teams know which approvals come back to them and which ones are now someone else's to sign.
That is how the head of operations question gets a full morning instead of eleven minutes on a Thursday.
This week, before you approve anything, ask who else could have made this call well.
If the answer is someone on your team, send it back with one line: "This one is yours. I trust your judgment."
If you are leading with more on your desk than your best judgment can cover, let's talk.

FIVE publishers have announced interest in my first book: “Intervals Of Service”.
With less than three weeks left in the pre-sales campaign seeing FIVE publishers express interest is a joy. It’s redeeming that the value of the work is showing through.
The crowdsourcing site I put my book campaign on was mainly for visibility. They are known for connecting publishers to authors.
I won’t see who the potential publishers are until the campaign completes in a few weeks. It will be fantastic if the right publisher is in the list of those interested.
If you have connections in the established book publishing world, I would greatly appreciate an introduction.
This is only my first book…more to come.
I appreciate your support in whatever way it lands for you, sharing the links, telling others about my book, participating in the presale. Of course, making key introductions is deeply appreciated.
Pre orders are available now. View my campaign + video in this link:
