The Invisible Return -> To Master Your Energy When Time Resets, Do This:
Welcome to Leading Greats, my Tuesday weekly newsletter.
Here I offer actionable leadership, business, and personal development insights and tools from my decades of experience as a learner, leader, and high-performance coach.
It’s been a priceless accumulation. I am pleased to share this with you.
If your clock turns back, you gain an hour - at least on paper.
Yet many still feel behind with the end of Daylight Saving Time.
That extra hour often brings fog, not focus.
Your internal rhythm doesn’t reset as quickly as your phone does.
Even one hour of circadian disruption changes sleep, mood, and energy.
For some, full realignment can take days - or even weeks.
Leaders and high performers notice it most in focus and reaction time.
When rhythm slips, judgment and patience follow.
You can’t stop time from resetting (yet).
But you can control how you return.
Here’s how I do it.
A daily re-anchoring practice that calms the system and reclaims rhythm.
Box Breathing (also called 4-7-8 Breathing)

Find a comfortable position - almost any one will do.
Whatever steady feels like for you.
Start by exhaling fully through gently parted lips.
Then inhale through your nose as you count to four.
Hold that breath quietly to a count of seven.
Exhale through your mouth to a count of eight.
Repeat for three to five cycles.
It’s a small ritual with a big return.
Each breath restores balance, steadies focus, and reminds your body you’re in control.
Bonus: Journal how you feel before and after this.
The practice helps you transition into the new time brackets with awareness, not resistance.
The Return Practice
Rise at a consistent time. Rhythm builds trust with your body.
Seek morning light. Natural light resets your circadian clock better than caffeine.
Move briefly after waking. Circulation tells the brain it’s time to perform.
Protect the first hour. Avoid immediate digital demand. Let focus build gradually.
Anchor the evening. Lower lights, reduce screens, and close the day with calm repetition.
When others feel fog, you’ll bring clarity.
When others rush, you’ll move consciously.
The real advantage comes from how you use what’s restored.
Leaders and high achievers know presence refines performance.
